Commuter entered and exited the train network more than once in a single journey

Mr Chan boarded the train at Chinatown MRT station and alighted at Little India. He then transferred to bus service 147 and alighted at Boon Keng MRT station.

Subsequently, he took the train and alighted at Chinatown MRT station. He was surprised to learn that the train ride from Boon Keng MRT station to Chinatown MRT station was not considered as a transfer.

Explanation

Under Distance Fares, commuters can only enter and exit the train network once in a journey. As Mr Chan had entered and exited the train network twice, his train ride from Boon Keng to Chinatown station was charged separately as a new journey.
