Commuter paid a different fare for her outward and return trips on the same bus service

Ms Siti took bus service 87 from the bus stop opposite Kaki Bukit Industrial Estate to Bedok Interchange. Her fare was $0.81. However, she noticed that her fare for her return trip on bus service 87 from Bedok Interchange to Kaki Bukit Industrial Estate was $0.91.

Under Distance Fares, fares are computed on a journey basis according to the total distance travelled.

In this case, Ms Siti’s fares for the two journeys were different because the distances were not identical. The distance from opposite Kaki Bukit Industrial Estate to Bedok Interchange is 4.2km, while the distance from Bedok Interchange to Kaki Bukit Industrial Estate is 4.4km.  This increase in distance resulted in the return fare crossing into a higher fare band.
